On stage or off stage Shawn Bush is the real Vibes Machine, forever making sure his audience is always entertained by his performance 120% nothing less, giving them what they need. To hear Shawn Bush describe himself is “Mi crazy, mi mad, mi nuh normal”. Winston Shawn Vassell A.K.A. Shawn Bush was born on the 3rd of August at Jubilee Hospital, in Kingston, Jamaica. He attended alpha primary school at south camp road in Kingston Jamaica. Shawn Bush first performed at the age of 4 at a church concert in St. Andrews. He took home first place singing, “Jesus love is bubbling over”. While attending alpha primary, the youngster continued on with his talent. Shawn Bush came from a musical family. His mother is a Gospel Artist and his father played for various sound systems in his early years in Kingston, Jamaica. In his adolescent years, while living in Portmore, in St.Catherine Jamaica and attending Calabar High School. Winston Vassell had a busy teenage life. The multi talented Winston Vassell was one of Calabar Highs favorite 110m hurdler. He occasionally sang for his team members while they traveled to track meets, local and abroad. His teammates found him very amusing. With his busy schedule Winston (Shawn Bush) Vassell, still had time to exercise his god given singing talents at the studio. On weekends Shawn Bush could be found nowhere other than Caveman Studio, at 2B Grove Rd, in Kingston Jamaica. As he was tempted by his talents as a dancehall artist, Shawn Bush became eager to quit school. He took his mothers advice to complete his education first. After doing so, Shawn Bush was free to pursue his only dream and he did so with tremendous determination. After finishing school Shawn Bush was ready to explore the dancehall scene where he performed in rural and urban areas. Shawn Bush performed in a competition at a Ghetto bash held in Gregory Park, Portmore Jamaica. He was awarded 1st place, with his spicy dancehall lyrics, where he had the audience going. Shawn Bush recorded tracks in Jamaica with artist such as Ghandi and Jah B, two of Portmore’s well-known Deejay’s in this time (equivalent to rapper). He also voiced a single with new product from the nah friend them crew, title sincerely. Shortly after recording several tracks in Jamaica he migrated to Canada as a result of his close relationship with his mother. After migrating to Canada with his enormous talent and skills, he quickly escalated to the top of dance hall charts in Canada. With singles like ‘Turtle shell’, ‘The Business’, and ‘Extra News’ Shawn Bush was destine for success. With his hilarious, spicy, dramatic verses and catchy punch lines in his songs, many producers, promoters, and songwriters started to direct their focus on Shawn Bush. He has recorded singles for Black Unity, Front Room Production, High Step Records Production, Black Eskimo Productions and many more. In a wink of an eye Canada was looking at one of the best in their dance hall history. Shawn Bush took his music to another level, with the single “Anthrax”. This single was inspired from the 911 attack on the United States. This paved a huge way for the rising reggae star who continued to release other singles such as. “Get Busy”, (a very controversial song) which he used to energize the city in the early 2004. Other songs like; “Shame A Yuh and Dancing” were songs that he used in his words (“to get the crowd jiggy”). Shawn Bush has also just released Da Ting Deh for 2005. Shawn Bushs musical inspirations are Bounty Killa, Beenie Man, and Shaggy. His goal is to be successful in what he does best and that is to entertain his supporter and the people who love music. One of his greatest aspirations is to become a Reggae Grammy Award Winner. Right now Shawn Bush is on the right track he has won the award for Best DJ Dancehall style at the 2003 Canadian Reggae Music Awards. Shawn Bush has also received an award for Best Dancehall DJ Artist at the Canada Dancehall 2003 Appreciation Awards.
